IN-light

IN-light for high blood pressure

Approximately 30-35% of the adult world population has hypertension or high blood pressure. This percentage increases with age and can reach 50% or more in some population groups and regions for people over 60. Worldwide, this amounts to more than 1.4 billion people with hypertension. Fortunately, intranasal red light therapy is a tool for high blood pressure and can significantly improve the quality of life, for example with the IN-light laser. In this indication, you can read what red light therapy from IN-light can do for high blood pressure, including scientific details and a treatment protocol.

What can IN-light do for high blood pressure?

IN-light red light therapy is a non-invasive therapy. With IN-light red light therapy, we offer a way to treat high blood pressure/hypertension. This therapy uses low-level laser light to stimulate cells and promote healing. The IN-light laser uses an intranasal application, whereby red light therapy is administered through the nose to reach the blood through the nasal mucous membranes. In this way, the entire body is positively influenced by the red light. Below you can read about the benefits that the IN-light laser can offer for high blood pressure.

1. Improved blood flow and vasodilation

Red light therapy stimulates the production of nitric oxide (NO) in the blood vessels. This is a natural substance that dilates the blood vessels. This leads to improved blood flow and a lowering of blood pressure.

2. Reduction of inflammation

Hypertension is often associated with chronic inflammation. Photobiomodulation reduces inflammation and promotes a healthy immune system. This can stabilise blood pressure.

3. Regulation of the autonomic nervous system

Intranasal laser therapy creates a balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. This can help lower blood pressure.

4. Reducing oxidative stress

Oxidative stress plays a major role in hypertension or high blood pressure. Red light therapy promotes the effect of antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduces free radical damage.

Benefits of IN-light red light therapy for high blood pressure

The IN-light laser is an intranasal laser device. This allows the laser light to stimulate the entire body via the nose. This has many benefits for everyone, including those suffering from high blood pressure. Scientists and users indicate the following benefits of red light therapy for hypertension:

  • A measurable reduction in blood pressure, without medication within a number of weeks;
  • Better sleep;
  • More energy;
  • Faster recovery after exercise;
  • A stronger immune system;
  • Lower blood sugar levels.

The last point can help repair damaged tissue, especially in the peripheral areas such as the feet. To summarise: red light therapy via the intranasal method (through the nose) is a valuable addition to traditional treatments such as medication and lifestyle changes. The IN-light laser can be a good addition to this.

Why does red light therapy work for high blood pressure?

This article shows that the IN-light laser is very suitable for people suffering from high blood pressure or hypertension. Red light therapy is suitable as a (supplementary) therapy without side effects. A little further on in this article you can read the scientific details of red light therapy for hypertension.

The risks of untreated hypertension

Hypertension is often called the ‘silent killer’ because it usually does not show any clear symptoms. On the other hand, it can cause damage to the body without us realising. These are the complaints that hypertension can cause:

1. Cardiovascular disease

High blood pressure puts extra strain on the heart and blood vessels. The risks of this include heart failure, coronary disease (heart attack) and arrhythmia.

2. Cerebral infarction and stroke

High blood pressure increases the risk of ischaemic strokes caused by a blood vessel blockage and haemorrhagic strokes caused by a burst blood vessel. Hypertension is the most important risk factor for strokes worldwide.

3. Kidney damage

High blood pressure can damage the small blood vessels in the kidneys, which can lead to kidney failure. Hypertension is also one of the biggest causes of chronic kidney disease.

4. Aneurysm

Hypertension can increase weak spots in the blood vessels. This can lead to life-threatening aneurysms, such as in the aorta.

5. Eye problems

This condition can lead to hypertensive retinopathy, a condition that affects the blood vessels in the eyes. In the worst case, this can cause blindness.

6. Cognitive decline and dementia

If hypertension remains untreated, it can contribute to vascular dementia and can accelerate the Alzheimer's process.

The importance of early detection and treatment of high blood pressure

Because hypertension often shows no symptoms, it is important to:

  • Regularly check your blood pressure, especially if you are over 40;
  • Address risk factors such as obesity, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption;

Use additional therapies, such as red light therapy, (preventively) for a healthy lifestyle.

Our research into laser therapy for hypertension

In 2021, we conducted a study in collaboration with Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the University of Twente. This study showed that 80% of the participants experienced an improvement in blood pressure after using the intranasal laser. The blood pressure had improved by at least one class. In addition, 80% of the patients also indicated that they had experienced positive effects after using the laser. The patients were asked to use the laser nasal clip twice a day for four months and also to donate blood for monitoring by their GP.

The results between male and female subjects are very similar, which indicates statistical consistency and no gender advantages.

Experiences of users with high blood pressure

‘I had a burnout and was constantly extremely tired and listless. Not hungry, sleeping poorly, not in the mood to do anything. But since I've been using the laser, I have more energy, I sleep better and I'm hungrier! My blood pressure has also improved, going from 160 over 110 to 135 over 90. And the tinnitus I had as a result is almost gone! I use the laser when I watch TV on the sofa in the evening. That way the device does its work while I relax!’

Wilma Huttjes (64)

‘I developed type 2 diabetes and a high glucose level of 10.5. On the advice of my doctor, I opted for weight loss instead of medication. My physical condition was poor, but with the laser as support, exercising became much easier. After 2 months, my weight went down, and now I can walk 6 km without any complaints.

After 4 months, my HbA1c had dropped to 7.0, which means that my blood sugar levels have greatly improved. If this continues, I will be able to reduce my medication. I am very happy with the laser!’

Woman (58)

‘After a burnout and many health problems in the autumn of 2017, I was told about low level laser therapy through various channels. After just a few weeks, I felt an improvement. My strength and fitness have recovered much faster than without the laser. I sleep much better, my blood circulation and blood pressure have normalised. I have been using the laser consistently since November 2017 and have not been sick since. Fantastic!’

Frequently asked questions about high blood pressure

What does science say?

Photobiomodulation is a proven method that is used in healthcare worldwide. Research shows that the use of laser light reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and activates the energy factories in our cells (mitochondria).

A common factor in patients with high blood pressure is high blood viscosity and high erythrocyte aggregation (blood aggregation). In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, Timon CY Liu et al demonstrated with statistical significance that intranasal LLLT reduces blood and plasma viscosity and red blood cell aggregation.

This provides convincing data that intranasal light therapy plays an important role in lowering high blood pressure for most patients, because blood viscosity and aggregation are important factors behind high blood pressure.

In addition, the vascular walls also dilate (vasodilation) to allow blood with these problems to retain its rheological properties, which is important for ageing.

The image below shows the effect that our radiation therapy has on erythrocyte aggregation.
